Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Gillenwater

Mary Elizabeth Gillenwater

Mary Elizabeth Gillenwater, age 90, passed away February 10, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. A lady of Christian faith, our family and friend, believed life began in a garden. Mary spent her career as a Florist working until she was 87 years old. She enjoyed her God given talent and used it to help others to express their feelings of love to one another. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mattie Lester; husband, Radford G. Gillenwater; son Stephen Douglas Gillenwater; sisters, Ruth Lester Wright, Vivian L. Lester and Irene Lester Ryburn; brothers, James F. Lester, Bill Lester and Judd Lester.

Mary is survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie Ann Gillenwater (Troy Miller), and Lori Gillenwater Smith (Shelby Taylor); great grandsons, Ethan Douglas Smith and Aden Gray Smith; sister, Mildred V. Lester; brother, Ted E. Lester (Doris); daughter-in-law Susan Annette Gillenwater; several loving nieces and nephews; special friends Pat and Wayne Jones, Carlton Chapman and Lacy Frye.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday February 16, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home with Dr. Darlene Litton and Rev. Tim Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
As much as Mary loved flowers, of course they are welcome as well as donations to Henderson Funeral Home to help with expenses.
Special thanks Saltville and Chilhowie Fire Departments and all of the first responders.
