Albert Neal Barrett, Jr., age 76, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va.  Neal was born July 13, 1948, in Tazewell County to the late Albert Neal Barrett, Sr. and Doris Louise Barrett.  He graduated from Rich Valley High School in 1967.  Neal was an electrician by trade but loved building and doing renovations.  He loved to mow, work on his farm, and raise a garden.  He enjoyed sitting on his front porch and talking with his neighbors.  Neal was a member of Crabtree Chapel Church.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sarah Jane Lamie, and Annie Mae Lamie.

Left to cherish and honor his memory is his wife of 55 years, Cathy Gates Barrett; one son, John Barrett and wife Nancy; his grandson Aiden Barrett who was his pride and joy; and his dog "Precious".

A celebration of life service for Neal Barrett will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Bailey officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tannersville Fire and Rescue.
