Albert Lee
Doane
May 21, 1933 — Dec 20, 2025
Saltville
Saltville, Virginia
Albert "Lee" Doane, age 92, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Valley Rehab and Nursing, Chilhowie, Va surrounded by his loving wife and granddaughter, Aleah.
Lee proudly served his country in the United States Army for 22 years, retiring with honor after a dedicated military career. After his service, he spent 5 years working in the oil fields of Texas and later retired from VA Glove when the plant closed. Above all, Lee loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him his greatest joy. He was known for aggravating his family, his obsession with gardening and his chickens (which his wife can't wait to get rid of), and his love for saltwater fishing, memories his family will forever cherish. He will be remembered for his service, his humor, and the love he shared, leaving a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his children, Albert Lee Doane, Jr. and Andrea Gwyn Cowling; his parents, Theodore and Julia Doane; his great-granddaughter, Cara Doane; and several siblings.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Joyce Doane of Saltville, Va.; grandchildren, Aleah Propst and husband, Matt, of Dublin, Va.; William Doane; Danielle Doane and husband, Seth, all of Saltville, Va.; and Olivia Nguyen and husband, Steven, of Florida; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ava, Arianna, Willow, Roland, Narvaria, Ruby, Emma, and Liberty; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends, including widow of his son, Brenda Doane and companion of William Doane, Leah Boardwine.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Saltville, Va with Pastor Stan Dunham officiating. Friends may visit from 12:45 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by the Francis Marion VFW Post #4667 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
