Alice Mae Doane Saltville, VA Alice Mae Doane, age 79, of Saltville, passed away peacefully December 28, 2020, after battling chronic illness. She was born to the late Sherman and Bessie Terry, March 22, 1941, in Saltville. Alice graduated from RB Worthy High School, worked for several years at Buster Brown in Chilhowie and was a faithful member Goodman's Chapel and Zion Methodist Church in Rich Valley. She married the late Harold Mason Doane in December of 1963 and they lived together in Saltville for their entire life journey. Alice is also preceded in death by her late Son, Justin Adam; brother, James Terry. She is survived by two sons; Jamie Doane and wife Cheryl of Rich Valley, Gary Doane and wife Katherine of Atkins; one daughter, Terry Lynn Chambers and husband Dale of Tampa, Fl.; two brothers, Charles Terry and wife Arlene, Edward Terry and beloved sister-in-law, Doris Huffman; one sister, Louise Cooper; three adoring grandchildren, Eric Doane, Kortney Clear and Jaylin Chambers; and one great-grandchild, Mia Clear; several nieces, nephews, and cousins within Southwest Virginia and North Carolina. Patricia Kay Harris was her very best friend of several years. Alice spent her days treasuring their visits, conversations and companionship. Alice was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She spent her last days gloating over her grandchildren and spoiling them tremendously. She cherished her husband of 50 years and looked forward to their reunion in heaven. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Pastor Matt Holman officiating.
