Aug 2, 1940 — Oct 2, 2025
Saltville, Va.
SFC Andy Dale Allison, born August 2, 1940, entered into his heavenly reward surrounded by his loving family on October 2, 2025. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
SFC Allison proudly served his country for 20 years (1958–1978), with tours of duty in Vietnam, South Korea, and West Germany, as well as assignments at Fort Hood, TX; Fort Lee, VA; Fort Knox, KY; and Fort Bragg, NC. Throughout most of his career, he served as a Mess Sergeant, faithfully providing thousands of troops with three meals a day. His dedication and service earned him numerous medals and awards. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
Following his decorated 20-year military career, Mr. Allison worked another 20 years at Floral Daniels and other various jobs until he turned 80 while continuing to raise a garden through this past summer.
Known affectionately by many as "Sticky" or "Stick," everyone loved him and the stories he could tell. He was loving and kind to everyone he knew. He would give you the shirt off of his back and helped many people in his lifetime including his mom, dad and brother, Bunk.
Sticky was a dedicated member of the New Christian Community Church for many years. He loved the Lord dearly and was ready to go home to be with the good Lord forever. "In my father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."
Sticky was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jenny Allison; two brothers, Homer and Bunk Allison.
He shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jean. He is also survived by his son, Dale and wife Sherry; grandson, Aaron and wife Angie; four precious great-grandchildren he absolutely adored, Alex, Arison, Andrew and Amber; many other family members and friends across the country that he cherished and spoke highly of.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at Henderson chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Reverend Josh Allison officiating. Burial will follow at the Allison Family Cemetery. After the graveside service, everyone is invited to Dale and Sherry's home.
