Meadowview, VA Barbara Overbay Athey, age 79, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Sally Mountain Overbay. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Athey, and sister, Dorothy Ray. Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, Kenny Athey; her son, David Athey and wife Robbie of Marion VA; brother, Lloyd Overbay and wife Jean of Massillon, OH; brother-in-law, Fred Ray of Glade Spring, VA; and many nieces and nephews; special friends, the pastor and congregation of the Little Rock Baptist Church in the Friendship community. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, VA with Brother Buster Mullins officiating.
