Barabara “Bunny” Debord Moore, age 92, opened her eyes in Heaven on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Bunny was a stoic and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She was simply a good person with a kind heart and a quiet, steady nature. She never wanted to cause any trouble or be a burden to anyone and was happiest living a simple life surrounded by the people she loved. Above all else, Bunny took great pride in her family, and the love she had for them was evident throughout her life. In her quieter moments, Bunny enjoyed knitting and crocheting and especially loved tending to her flower garden. She also found joy in the simple beauty of nature and could often be found relaxing in her recliner, watching the wildlife outside and seeing what might wander through the yard. Bunny worked at the Saltville Bowling Alley prior to its closure and later spent many years with Rite Aid, where she served as an Assistant Manager until her retirement. She was also a member of Chilhowie Baptist Church. Her kind and loving way will be missed by all those who were lucky enough to love her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Moore; parents, William and Ira Goodman Debord; sister, Corinne Weaver; and brothers, John, Robert, and Roy C. Debord.
Bunny is survived by her son, Stuart Moore and wife, Pam, of Saltville, VA; daughter, Teresa Martin and husband, Claude, of Damascus, VA; brother, Bill Debord of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Dorothy Everhart and Patsy Blevins of Broadford, VA; grandchildren, Joshua Moore and wife, Julie, Amy Tolbert and husband, Josh, and Daniel Martin and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Weston Moore, McCayden Moore, Evelyn “Evie” Moore, Jet Tolbert, Stella Tolbert, Zoey Bird, Khaleesi Tome, Korbin Martin, Abbigail Martin, and Jonnie Martin; her beloved cat, Bubby; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses on the 2200 Ward at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon for their exceptional care.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Dunn officiating. Entombment will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, 10069 Crescent Road, Glade Spring, VA 24340.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Moore, McCayden Moore, Weston Moore, Daniel Martin, Josh Tolbert, and Jet Tolbert.
