Barbara Jean Barrett Collins went to meet the Lord on Saturday, November 2, 2024.  She is proceeded in death by her loving husband Jeff Collins; parents Melvin and Lorraine Barrett; sister Dorothy (Clifford) Boardwine; brothers Toady, Willie, Willard, Pete, and Punk Barrett; mother and father-in-law Everett and Vetra Collins; brothers-in-law Mike Felty, Mike (Donna) Collins, Pat Collins, and Johnny Renick.  Barbara loved her family.

She leaves behind her daughter Crystal (John) Shepherd and son Dennis Collins; sisters Rita Felty and Sandy (Frank) Felty; grandchildren Jason (Savannah) and Justin (Megan) Shepherd; greatgrandchildren Jackson, Trevor, Scarlette, and Ella; brothers-in-law Phil (Treva) and Justin (Velma) Collins; sisters-in-law Mel (Bill) Perry, Beverly Renick, Faye (Jerry) Norman, Sheila (Leonard) Austin, Cindy (Dean) Shortt, and Hazel Collins; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Barb worked hard to take care of everybody.  At a young age she helped raise her younger brothers and sisters because she came from a big family.  Her two children loved and adored her.  To many of her nieces and nephews, she was like a second mom.  Barb was strict but fair and promoted always doing the right thing, respecting our elders, and loving hard.  Barb was in her element in the kitchen.  She loved to cook and feed her family, friends, and neighbors.  Everyone was welcome at our table.  Nothing brought her more joy than loved ones coming together and enjoying her food.

Funeral services for Barbara Collins will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, Va. with Pastor Chuck Harris officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Elizabeth Cemetery (new section) in Saltville, Va.  Those serving as pallbearers will be Jason Shepherd, Justin Shepherd, Jason Short, Jeremy Hoback, Travis Felty, Michael Boardwine, and Brandon Collins.
