Bernice Eileen Worley, age 92, of Seven Mile Ford, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2022, surrounded by her family, in the comfort of her home. She was born on September 15, 1929, in Saltville, Virginia. She could no longer remain in this world without her darling husband, Merle Jackson Worley, who went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2022. We know you are with Daddy again, and you are both rejoicing in Heaven, but our hearts are broken because you've left us behind. We will all be together again soon. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Hilmore and Lula Doane Burgess; her sister, Freda Burgess; and her brother, Stanley Burgess. She is survived by her loving daughters, Carolyn Dianne Worley Phelps and husband, Charles Phelps of Bluff City, Tenn., Teresa Kay Poe of Saltville, Va., Joan Marlene Worley of Chilhowie, Va., and Darla Sue Worley Goodman and husband Peyton Goodman of Walkers Creek, Va.; her sisters, Charlotte Jones and Betty Buchanan; her brothers, Harold Burgess and David Carson Burgess; her grandchildren, Daniel Poe, Christopher Counts, Melanie Williams and husband Keith, Leslie Austin, Todd Austin, Alicia Phelps, Tara Colada, and Mina Goodman; her great grandchildren, Aspen Poe, Forest Carlosh, Lena Austin, Tyler Austin, Liam Rutter, Jimmy McCarraher, Tori Barbrow, Lilyana Poe and Jaylein Wimmer; and her great-great granddaughter, Maia Rose Bentley. A visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Garry Evans officiating. A committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery with Pastor Garry Evans officiating. Don Frye, Todd Austin, Tyler Austin, Charles Phelps, Peyton Goodman, Daryl Jones, Christopher Counts and Tony Jones will be serving as pallbearers.
