Saltville, VA Betty Jean Barrett, age 88, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Betty lived a Christian life full of love. She lived a big part of her life in Chesapeake Virginia, where she was a member of The Assembly of God. She was a great genuine person who loved her family, especially her grandsons. In her free time, you could find her playing Bingo with her friends or watching her favorite TV shows. She was preceded in death by her parents, Freed and Julia Long; brothers, Freed Long, Jr., Tommy Long, Mark Long, and Don Long; and three sisters, Susie Cahoon, Linda Campbell, and Phyllis Long. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Herman Barrett; one daughter, Andrea Myers and Husband Bruce of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Britt and Hoyt Long; two grandsons, Bruce Myers, Jr., and Jon Myers; special friends, Larry Hogston, Rick and Beth Stumbo; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Pine Ridge Cemetery. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
