Betty Gray Cassell

Betty Gray Cassell, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at her home in Glade Spring, Virginia. She was born on February 5, 1945, in Abingdon, Virginia, to the late John Henry Dishman, Sr. and Gray Elizabeth Heath. Betty was a loving mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and a wonderful friend to many. She was truly the glue that held her family together—the light of the family whose warmth and guidance will be deeply missed. The world feels a little dimmer without her strong and loving presence.

A believer in God, Betty lived her life with faith and kindness. She had a passion for keeping her home pristine, was an animal lover, and enjoyed taking trips out to eat with her friends. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her pride and joy, Rusty Cassell; her sister, Wanda Jean Lester; and her brother, Johnnie Henry Dishman, II.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Jo Ann Hopkins and husband Jimmy of Bluff City, TN, Debbie Dishman and fiancé Bobby Davidson of Saltville, Mary Lynn Sessor and husband David of Saltville, and Jerry Dishman and wife Minta of Saltville, VA; special friend, Myrtle; and special little angel, Mya; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and beloved cat, "Smokey".

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Hopkins officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will be held at Mount Rose Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
