Saltville, Va. Betty Jane Doane, age 87, departed this life on June 10, 2021. She worked at Smyth County Community Hospital and Johnston Memorial Hospital for several years. Betty always made a way for her family and she could make you laugh even in difficult times. She was a loving mom, grandmother, sister, and friend. Betty was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mabel Doane; husband, Bill Doane; sons, Denny, Jeff, and Ken Doane; grandson, Justin Chapman; siblings, Bobby, Donald, Billy Joe Doane, Claudine Kestner, Rachel Kestner, and Mildred Olinger. Left to cherish her memory, son, Larry; daughter, Dreama; grandchildren, Travis Chapman, Gloria Davidson, Kayla Doane, Stacy Doane, Scotty Doane, and Toby Doane; siblings, Jimmy (Judy) Doane, Rita (Bobby) Rupe, Daphne (Darrell) McCready; 14 great grandchildren; and great great grandchild, Jaxon Carter. A special thanks to Kissito Nursing Home, Dr. Henry; friends, Opal Rhea, Patsy Rose, Merle and Eileen Worley, Dave Henderson, Wayne Austin, Lola Thompson Waldron, and Oak Grove Church family.
