Betty Sue Hawthorne

Glade Spring, VA

Betty Sue Hawthorne, age 76, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Betty was an amazing woman with a giving heart. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, and her crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mable Dinsmore; and one sister, Joyce "Cookie" Carter.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Freddie Hawthorne; four children, Tammy Morefield and husband Keith, Sherry Joyner, Saundra Frye and husband Terry, Sandra Schmidt and husband Jim; one brother, Bobby Dinsmore and wife Mary Helen; one sister, Patsy Hayden and Mark; six grandchildren, Kayla Mullins, Courtney Holbrook, Cassie Gobble, Stacy Hess, Lexi Hess, and Chris Hogston; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many children she helped raise she considered her own.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Surber officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service Monday evening.
