Betty Nipper Miller, age 87, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026 at English Meadows in Abingdon, VA.  Betty was born November 27, 1938 to the late Charles W. and Pauline Swartz Nipper.  Betty was a graduate of Virginia Highlands Community College School of Nursing.  She worked as a registered nurse for over 20 years at the Virginia Department of Corrections and 2 years at Johnston Memorial Hospital.  Betty and her husband Joe worked in the mission field traveling to Kentucky and Alaska.  They enjoyed traveling and taking the bus tours where they visited many states in the U.S. and Canada.

Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to many.  Every morning during breakfast time she would read scripture to her daughters and often ask them to request their favorite scripture for her to read.  Betty loved gardening and working in her flowers.  She often took care of the "outside" cats with special love and she enjoyed watching the squirrels and would move the nuts so she could watch them.  Betty loved watching old westerns on T.V. and didn't have a particular favorite but liked them all.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Miller, and brother, Harold Nipper.

Those left to cherish her memory is her daughters, Sharon Miller and Patricia Miller; her brother, Roger Nipper; and sister-in-law, Linda Nipper.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at English Meadows and Hospice MSA, and Dr. Kristin Bresowar for the years of caring and kindness they gave to Betty.

Funeral services for Betty Miller will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Allison Gap First Church of God with Pastor Jeremy Dunn officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.   Men of the Allison Gap First Church of God will serve as pallbearers.
