Betty K. Spence, age 92, transitioned into her eternal glory made possible by Jesus Christ her Lord on, December 7, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Betty passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and the enduring spirit of a truly remarkable woman. She was born on October 10, 1931 to the late Houston and Lettie Kitts in Burkes Garden Virginia. Betty dedicated her life to the incredible journey of motherhood. She was the epitome of unconditional love, not only for her six cherished children but for a countless number of grandchildren. Beyond her role as a loving mother and grandmother, Betty was a beacon of love, kindness, and strength. Her heart was a haven, welcoming anyone in need with open arms and a comforting embrace. Her positive outlook on life, even in the face of challenges, served as a guiding light for her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, leaving an unforgettable mark of love, wisdom, empathy, and enduring compassion. She was a dedicated member of Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church.

Including her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years of Marriage, Walter Early Spence; one son, Michael Wayne Spence; and one granddaughter.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her five children, Walter Steven Spence of Saltville, VA, David Spence and wife Debbie of Saltville, Jeff Spence and wife Leisha of Saltville, VA, Mary Beth Sheets and husband Jerry of Chilhowie, VA, Scott Spence and wife Diane of Saltville, VA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mike and Dreama Neal.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church, 3877 Bluegrass Trail, Saltville, VA, 24370.

Funeral services for Betty will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Madam Russel United Methodist Church with Pastor Katie Beth Boardwine and Pastor Scott Spence officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at the Spence Family Cemetery.
