Billy Joe Davenport, age 85, went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at NHC in Bristol, Va. where him and his wife have both been residing for the past two years. He was a Godly man and a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior. Billy was born on July 22, 1938, to his parents, Holly Roosevelt and Lear Fields Davenport. He loved his family dearly. Billy was very particular keeping his yard manicured to the finest and taking care of his flowers.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Dencie Smith Davenport; his daughter, Cindy Russell and husband Bill of Meadowview, Va.; two sons, Jeff Davenport and wife Kim of Meadowview, Va., and Mark Davenport and wife Cindy of Glade Spring, Va.; brothers, Wayne Davenport and wife Joan, and Coy Davenport and wife Mary both of Meadowview, Va.; one sister, Jean Allison and husband Andy of Saltville, Va.; grandchildren, Travis Russell, Chris Davenport, Kim Carrasco, Melina Head, and Alex Davenport; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Our family extends our sincere thanks to the staff of NHC of Bristol that made his passing so kind and the continued love and care that is shown to our mother.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, Va. with Pastor Travis Fletcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville, Va. Pallbearers will be Howard "Al" Dye, David Carmack, Bill Russell, Paul "Bossy" Collins, Alvin Davenport, Chris Davenport, and Mark Barrett.
