Saltville, VA Billy Lee Goff, age 73, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He loved spending time with his family, especially his great-granddaughter, Marissa McGhee. Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran hero who served in the Vietnam War. He was part of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division. During his service he was rewarded multiple medals for his heroism, including; Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and two purple hearts. Billy was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Cloa Goff; and granddaughter, Samantha McGhee. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Leedy Goff; two daughters, Cathy Goff (Michael Chapman), Tammy Davidson; one son, Tim Goff; one brother, Jimmy Goff (Shelia); three sisters, Rita Belcher (Dennis), Gerl Helton, and Irene Chapman (J.D.); four grandsons, Jeffery McGhee (Natasha), Marcus McGhee (Kaitlyn Tickle), Cody Davidson, and Jack Moore; one very special great-granddaughter, Marissa McGhee, who was the light of his life; very special friend, Eugene Ellis; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Mount Rose Cemetery with Pastor Roger O'Quinn officiating. There will be military rites performed by the United States Army and V.F.W. Post #4667. Pallbearers will be Jeffery McGhee, Marcus McGhee, Brian Goff, Jonathan Goff, Eugene Ellis, and David Johnson.
