Obituary

Gray, Tennessee

Bonnie Sue Hogston Slone, age 80, was born on March 26, 1945, and passed away on January 14, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Bonnie loved the Lord and was faithful in serving the Lord. She was a member of Old Regular Baptist Church for 52 years and is now in her Heavenly Home. On September 19, 2017, she lost her soulmate. They were inseparable and did everything together, and now they'll be reunited in the arms of Jesus in Heaven. She will be rejoicing with the love of her life again. One of the happiest days of her and Plenny's life was when they found out their daughter was pregnant, as they cried tears of joy. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, playing with her grandbabies, or sitting on the couch with them watching Astros baseball games before Nicholas turned her into a Tennessee Vols fan. Other special moments in her life were Pastor Rusty coming to visit her and record her saying, "Ms. Bonnie, now you say Pastor Jamie and Pastor Scott you're in the doghouse." They would laugh about saying that.

The family would like to thank Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church for all the love shown for Bonnie, the beautiful cards, gifts (when Pastor Scott brought the homebound gift bag, she was so excited she acted like a little kid opening Christmas presents).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Plenny Slone; parents, Carl and Annie Hogston; five sisters, Mary Cox, Kathleen Blair, Geneva Hogston, Joyce Coleman, and Melster Hogston; and four brothers, Douglas Hogston, Onis Hogston, Paul Hogston, and Cecil Hogston; infant daughter, Mary Magdalene Slone.

Those left to cherish Bonnie's memory include her daughter, Patricia Eller (J. Paul) of Gray, TN; son, Michael Slone (Rose) of Damascus, VA; three grandchildren, Klarissa and Nicholas Eller, and Anthony Dotson; sister, Barbara Keen (Harold) of Rowe, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church, 1727 Chinquapin Grove Rd., Bluff City, TN 37618. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m., with Pastors Rusty Verran, Scott Greene, and Jamie Ferguson officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Elizabeth Cemetery, Saltville, Va.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Hogston, Karl Hogston, Bobby Coleman, Weston King and friends.
