Brenda Kay Helton Prater, age 72, left this earth peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024.  She was born January 21, 1952, in Saltville to the late Montague and Gertie Elizabeth Helton.  Brenda was the office manager for Innovative Millwork Technologies and had been an employee for over 20 years.

Including her parents, she was preceded by her loving siblings, brother, Montie and sister, Carolyn.

Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Ronnie Helton and John E. Helton; sister, Betty Jo Taylor; and too many nieces and nephews to mention that loved her dearly.

She was better known as and referred to simply as "Nanny" by all that loved her.   She loved her family more than anything.  Nanny was a very selfless, loving, nurturing, strong, and independent woman. She was a beautiful soul with a big heart.  She was someone to look up to and always one to build you back up when all else was falling apart.  Nanny took on so many roles, a sister, an aunt, a mother figure, a grand nanny, a role model and a best friend.   She always opened her heart and her home up and was a mother and a safe place to so many.  She always seemed to step in and lift us all up when there was a need.  Nanny spoiled us all with her love and generosity.  She had the best ways of letting you know you were loved.  Words could never express how much she was loved and will be missed.
