Carl Edward Rickman

Carl Edward Rickman age 76, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025. He was a graduate of R.B. Worthy High School, Class of 1967. After high school, he attended and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1971. He continued to be a loyal Virginia Tech football fan throughout his life. He went on to become a CPA. Carl was a proud resident of Saltville, Virginia, to which he devoted his time to numerous organizations to benefit the town. He was a devoted, lifelong member and elder of the First Christian Church, Allison Gap.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Early and Roby Rickman; his sister, Peggy Rolen and husband Eddie; his nephews who were like brothers, Mike Rolen, George Rolen and Ray Rolen; mother-in-law, Geneva Louthen; brothers-in-law, Bill Haynes, and Rudy Anderson; and sister-in-law, Lori Lynch.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years of marriage, Martha Rickman; his daughter, Farrah Durlock (Jeff) and son Evan Rickman (Sara); sisters-in-law, Sue Anderson, Sue Haynes, Lisa B. Rolen, Laura Rolen, and Lisa Rolen; brother-in-law, Bryan Lynch; step father-in-law, Tommy Louthen nephews and nieces, Jarrod Rolen (Lacey), Jill Snodgrass (Wayne), Michael Rolen (Bethany), Jordan Rolen, Ashley Rolen, Drew Anderson (Stephanie), Brandi Atkins (Dave), Kelley Haynes, and Landon Smith (Carol); great nieces and nephews, Gabe, John, Riley, Tucker, Layla, Kate, Emmi, Owen, and Blake; and church family and cousins.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday October 5, 2025 from 6 until 8 p.m.at Henderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025 at the First Christian Church, Allison Gap, with Pastor Chuck Harris officiating. The burial will follow at the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville with Jarrod Rolen, Landon Smith, Gabe Coe, John Coe, Mark McNew, and Matt McNew serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Riley Rolen, Tucker Rolen, Rick McNew, Jackie McNew, and Jim Davis.
