Carolyn Taylor Holmes, age 74, of Clinchburg, VA, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 7, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family as Jesus welcomed His faithful servant into His arms.

Carolyn was born in Saltville, VA. She attended R.B. Worthy High School and married the love of her life, Mack Holmes soon thereafter. She was a lifelong member of Cardwelltown Freewill Baptist Church where she could be found singing in the choir and listening to the Word of God. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking care of those who needed her most. She was a wonderful homemaker and a mother figure to many throughout the years. Carolyn loved spending time with her family, especially her brothers and sisters "on the hill." Anytime she was asked how she was doing, her reply was always, "I'm blessed."

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Essie Taylor and Frances Campbell Taylor, as well as brothers Sherman Taylor and Tommy Taylor and sister Elizabeth Taylor. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mack Holmes: her son, Mack Arthur Holmes and wife Stephanie; brothers, Bill Taylor (Patsy) of Daleville, VA and Paul Taylor (Ruby) of Fincastle, VA; sisters, Mildred Poston of Norfolk, VA, Mabel Perry of Saltville, VA, June Holmes (Ronnie) of Saltville, VA, and Nancy Hageman of Quapaw, Oklahoma; special sisters-in-law, Margaret Taylor and Connie Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 10, 2023 at Cardwelltown Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Baumgardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the church.

Pallbearers: Eddie Holmes, Mike Holmes, John Kessel, Craig Taylor, Lee Puckett, Larry Herder, and Jay Perry.
