Midlothian, Va.

Christine H. Denton made her way to heaven from Midlothian, VA on March 17, 2025.  Born in Saltville on August 6, 1928, to Floyd W. and Maggie Louise McKinney, she spent the majority of her life there and served her community well.  She was a dedicated member of Main Street Christian Church; among other things she volunteered at the Museum of the Middle Appalachians and the Saltville Food Pantry and participated in many events as a member of the Lions Club.

In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Denton, sister Ruth McKinney, sister Helen Mitchell & Bill, brother Sam (Scorp) McKinney.

Survivors include daughter Vicki Beckett, Midlothian, VA, son David Hammond & Debbie, Ashland, VA, son Allen Hammond & Rita, Bristol, VA, stepchildren Tim Denton and Linda Hicks; grandchildren Kelly Thomas & Ringo, Jesse Sanders & Tammy, Chris Hammond & Jessica, Sterlin Hammond, Kevin Hammond & Amanda; five great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Dunham officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. A private family graveside service will be held at Mount Rose cemetery on Friday, March 21 at 11:00 am.
