Claudine Sweat Thomas

Glade Spring, VA

Claudine Sweat Thomas, age 82, of Glade Spring, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2025. Born on December 17, 1942, in Saltville, she was the daughter of the late Hal E. Sweat and Blanche Rhea Sweat. A devoted woman of faith, Claudine lived her life with a deep love for God, always putting God first in all she did. She was a longtime member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Glade Spring, where she found joy in worshiping alongside her church family. Her selfless and caring nature was evident to all who knew her, as she dedicated her life to serving others and cherishing her family. She dedicated over 30 years to the Virginia Employment Commission, working in both Marion and Bristol until her retirement. She loved her job and the many friendships she made along the way, considering her colleagues as part of her extended family. As the last surviving sibling of eleven, Claudine held her family close to her heart. She treasured time spent with her family and took great pride in her children and especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering love, and encouragement. She also found joy in traveling with friends and making many memories along the way. Claudine's unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 38 years of marriage, Thomas Earl Thomas; her siblings, Hal Sweat, Jr., Estelle Lowe, Jeanette Sweat, Teddy Sweat, Ralph Sweat, Luther "Popsicle" Sweat, Ed Sweat, Vangie Hayden, and two infant siblings.

Left to cherish and honor her memory are her two children, Randy Thomas, and Becky Pavlick; two grandchildren, Scott Thomas, and Cole Pavlick; great-grandchildren, Melody Thomas, Natalie Thomas, Channing Canter, and Mox Canter; brothers-in-law, Jerry Thomas and wife Jan, Larry Thomas and wife Peggy; sisters-in-law, "Frog" Cardwell, and Lois and Judy Sweat; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and her church family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to any Breast Cancer Research Foundation or any Alzheimer's Research Foundation in honor of her husband Earl Thomas.

A Celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at The Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Danny Medford officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
