Cody Dave Prater Meadowview, VA Cody Dave Prater, age 26, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Cody loved all of his family and friends dearly. He was a proud and loving father. Cody was a current employee of Utility Trailer where he was a welder. Besides being very passionate about his family, he had a love for hunting, and diesel trucks. Cody will be deeply missed by all that knew him. A great person gone too soon. Cody was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Harry and Francis Prater, and Fred and Mamie Musick,, and Early and Mattie Surber; grandfather, James Bennett; uncle Dewayne Boardwine; and cousin, Cara Doane. He is survived by his wife, Kenzie Stiltner Prater; his parents Wiley and Brandy Prater; his grandparents, Duke and Carol Prater, Brenda Bennet, and Bob Surber (Connie); his six children, Bailey Stiltner, Tyler Stiltner, Chance Nelson, Cameron Prater, Lane Prater, and Lilly Prater; two sisters, Santana Bennett, and Mattie Prater; special uncle, Kevin Bade; his best friend, Jeremy Greer; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Barber, and Pastor Mike Henley officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA.
