Marion, Va. Danny Bentley of Marion, Va. born in Saltville on November 11, 1956, passed away at his home surrounded by his wife and children. He was a veteran of the USMC and a former police officer of Saltville, Va. He was also a former police chief of Damascus, Va. where he assisted in organizing the Damascus Rescue Squad and served as a member. He was an over the road truck driver and was retired from Auto Truck Transport of Pulaski, Va. He was very much a comedian and a jokester and loved playing games with his loving wife, kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arnold Bentley and India Holmes Bentley; his brothers, Gene Bentley, and Charlie Coe; sisters, Betty White and Patsy Hunt; several nieces and nephews; his father-in-law of many years, "Rufus Patrick Powers"; and his grandchild, Bethany. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Candy Powers Bentley; son, Dennis Bentley (Heather) of Atoka, TN; daughter's, Tammy Turley, and Carol Hampton of Wytheville, Va., Felisha Anderson (CJ) of Saltville, Va. and Allison Bentley (David) of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Charis, Matthew, Andrew, Faith, Logan, Kindra, Emma, Connor, Cadyn, Culyn, Darrell, Patrick and Felicity. He is also survived by brothers, John Bentley of Lexington, NC, Rod Bentley of Stanley, NC, James Bentley, Jr. of Morgantown, NC; sisters, Peggy Crawford of Lexington, NC, and Kathy Boardwine of Marion, Va.; sisters-in-law, Trish Surber, Shirley Waddle (Ronnie), Brenda Hale (Verlin). Susan Hutton; mother-in-law, Carol Powers and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the following for their care and thoughtfulness, Dr. Watson, Angie Short, Rebecca Boozer, and the rest of the staff of the VA Norton office. Also, a special thank you to Lindsey Hogston, Robin Coleman, Amanda Brewer and the rest of the staff of Caris Hospice for their loving care and dedication. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor John Jackson officiating.
