Obituary

Saltville, VA

Debra Faye Boothe Bowman, age 67, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chilhowie, Virginia.

Born in Russell County, Virginia, Debra was the daughter of the late James Boothe and Juanita Hughes Phipps.

Above all else, Debra was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family with all her heart. She worked tirelessly throughout her life to provide for and care for those she loved, always putting the needs of her family before her own. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and love, and she found her greatest joy in watching her family grow through the generations.

Debra had a special love for children and spent many years babysitting, caring for countless little ones and nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She will always be remembered for her warm heart, kind spirit, and the delicious biscuits and gravy she lovingly prepared for family and friends. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially picking blackberries, camping, and making memories with those she loved. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling to Wytheville to watch the excitement of the dirt track races, something she always looked forward to.

Though her family will deeply miss her loving presence, they will forever cherish the many memories she created through her selfless love, unwavering dedication, and simple acts of kindness that made everyone feel at home.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Raymond, Ronnie, and Larry Boothe; and step-father, Ben Phipps.

Left to cherish her are her four children, Bobby Bowman and wife Crystal of Marion, VA, Debra Armstrong and husband Jamie of Saltville, VA, Amanda Eastridge and husband Allen of Saltville, and Juanita Armstrong and husband Daniel of Rich Valley, VA; siblings, Wayne Boothe and wife Donna of Salem, VA; John Boothe and wife Tammy of Meadowview, VA, Darlene Bowman and husband James of Rich Valley, VA; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Haga officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
