Obituary

Saltville, Va.

Dolores "Lois" Hess, 87, of Saltville, Virginia, passed away on November 3, 2026 and reunited with her husband, Nathan Eugene "Toder" Hess and son, Clayton "Sam" Hess.

Lois will be remembered for the love she shared with those around her and the special memories she created with family and friends. Some of her happiest moments were spent sitting on her porch, enjoying the company of loved ones, sharing conversations, and simply appreciating the time spent together. Her porch was more than just a place to sit; it was a gathering place for family and friends alike, where memories were made, and love was shared.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her husband and son she was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Frances Davidson and father and mother-n-law Nathan and Sue Hess. Siblings Mack Davidson, Billy Davidson, Shelby Wright, Dreama Minton, Penny Price, Connie Davidson, and Melody Price. In-laws Otis Wright, Kenneth Minton, Roy Davidson, John Surber, Rodney McKinnon, Claude and Ora Lee Oliver, Pat and Gladys Oliver, and Dot and Carl Wyatt. Son-n-law Jeff Keesee, a niece and several nephews.

She leaves behind her daughter's Berlinda Olinger (Jerry), Falina Keith, Susie Keesee, and Jennifer Rhea (Wayne). Grandchildren Starr Milhorne (Robbie), Kayla Lambert (Zack), Jeremy Olinger (Keelyn), Cody Keesee, Sam Rhea and Clayton Rhea. Great grandchildren Gunnar and Braylee Milhorne, Stevie Leigh and Myles Olinger, and Mox Lambert. Siblings Revonda Surber, Mike “Boy” Davidson (Tina), and Cathy Davidson. In-laws Sandy Davidson, Ralph Price, Franklin Price, Curly Hess (Judy), Margaret “Lady” McKinnon, Mary “Bunny” Harris (Dennis “Chip”) and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who lovingly cared for their precious mom; including her wonderful hospice nurses Mary and Kristi, great niece Sabrina (their built-in family nurse and dessert maker who has always been there at the drop of a hat) and niece Robin who loved her dearly. Their kindness, patience, compassion, and love will always be remembered.
