Donald Boyd "Donnie" Coleman

Meadowview, Va.

Donnie Coleman, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 2, of 1966 to the late Don and Frances Coleman. Donnie grew up in Glade Spring, VA and was a 1985 graduate of Patrick Henry High School. He had a 15-year career with Bristol Compressors where he was a skilled machinist. He enjoyed Sunday trail rides on his horse. But above all he loved his family. His son Derek was his pride and joy, he loved to spend time with him helping with cattle. He never met a stranger and had many special friends. His witty sense of humor and his kindness will be missed by all who knew him.

Including his parents, Donnie is also preceded in death by his two brothers, David Carson "Big Dave" Coleman, and Joe Owens Coleman; and baby sister, Pamela Sue Coleman.

Left to cherish his memory is his son Derek Coleman (Zeb Miller) of Meadowview, VA; sisters, Sandra Richardson (Charles) of Piney Flats, TN, Donna Broyles (Danny) of Glade Spring, VA, Bonnie Owens (Bo) of Meadowview, VA; his brother, Jerry Coleman (Michael) of Abingdon, VA; special friend, James Hamm; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to James Hamm who was always a loyal special friend who made sure he made it to all of his doctor's appointments during his illness. They would also like to give a special thanks to all of the nurses and staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital Critical Care Unit.

Funeral services for Donnie will be conducted at 7p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Garrett officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service. His final resting place will be with his family at Mount Rose Cemetery.
