Dorothy Troxell Prater, age 88, of Saltville, Va., passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Born on December 8, 1933, in Wythe County, Va., to the late William Roy Troxell and Susie Marie Hayden Troxell, she became an active member of her community. Dorothy was an avid quilter and was very active with her church quilting group. She was a reader and a talented domestic woman, often gardening and canning the fruits of her labor. Dorothy was one of the most generous and loving people you could meet. Family was the most important thing in Dorothy's life, but she was also very proud of her career in nursing. Above all, she spread love and kindness everywhere she went. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Prater; her sister-in-law, Sue Cuddy; and her brothers-in-law, Jack Heath and Billy Cuddy. Left to cherish Dorothy's memory is her daughter, Lynn Robbins and her husband, Rusty; her son, Tom Prater and his wife, Tracy; her sister, Jane Heath; her grandson, Matt Prater; her nephew, Dwane Heath and his wife, Martha Lynn; her niece, Elaine Hensley and her husband, Tracy.
