Obituary

Dorothy Faye Stevenson

Rich Valley, VA

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, shall be praised. Giver her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Dorothy Faye Stevenson, age 95, transitioned into her eternal glory made possible by Jesus Christ her Lord on, January 23, 2024. She was born in Elendale area of Rich Valley, VA on May 6, 1928, to the late Arlie and Thelma Anderson. She was raised on a farm when work was hard. Her and her brother walked to school every day which is now the location of Ridgedale United Methodist Church. She was born into difficult times, living through the great depression and World War 2. Those difficult days shaped her into a survivor, teaching her to make the most of what she had and to never give up. Dorothy cherished all of her family. She enjoyed reading her morning devotions, and always looked forward to reading the Saltville Progress every Thursday.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Stevenson; her son, David Allen Stevenson; brothers, Arlie, Robert, and John Anderson; one sister, Shirley Helton; a special nephew who was like a son, Roger Anderson; special brother-in-law, Ralph Stevenson; and son-in-law, John Waddle.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Ron Stevenson and wife Carol, Louie Stevenson and wife Lena, Phil Stevenson and wife Emily, and Larry Stevenson and wife Sue; her daughter, Patsy Waddle; daughter-in-law, Donna Stevenson; grandchildren, Karen (Jeff), Brittany, Cody, Colt, Chad (Jessie), J.D. (Jeana), and Scott (Shelley); four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brody, Josh (Marrisa), and Aaron; brother, Neal Anderson (Minnie); sister, Linda Doyle; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Drema Neal who went far and beyond her duty as a health care provider, becoming like a family member, Chilhowie Home Health Hospice, Greever's Clinic, Cynthia and Kayla Rouse, and also a special thanks to her phone friends who called her daily, Richard, Betty, and Betty Jo

Flowers are accepted and appreciated, but donations may also be made to the Rich Valley Council of Churches, 4505 Valley Rd. Saltville, VA, 24370.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Riverside Church with Pastor Mack Blevins officiating. The burial will follow at Ridgedale United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening at Riverside Church.
