Early Gordon Blevins

Early Gordon Blevins, 85, passed away Friday morning,September 2, 2022, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Blevins and Janette Harris and Bill; his brothers, Raymond and Ronald Blevins; and his wife of 49 years, Jean Keesee Blevins.

"Pop", as he was affectionately called by his family, was known to always have a big smile on his face and was a friend to all. He loved laughing with his grandsons and family, watching baseball, and swinging on his porch with his dog Sunny. He was always joking and laughing, especially when reminiscing about his days growing up in the Quarry and time in the Air Force. Pop loved gardening, day trips with Lucy and Penny, and taking walks around the Saltville town loop on a daily basis to meet his friends for coffee. He was a life-long citizen of Saltville, VA and a long-time member of Quarry United Methodist Church, where he loved his church family dearly.

He is survived by his two daughters Penny Blevins and Lucy Blevins; his two grandsons, Rybe Henderson and wife Abby, Logan Henderson and Kenna Grubb; his furry sidekick, Sunny; and a multitude of beloved friends.

"Pop", will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Bailey officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with military rites conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and also the V.F.W. #4667. The family will be receiving friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
