Eleanor Louise Holmes (Colley) 92, passed away September 3, 2022 peacefully at Valley Nursing Home in Chilhowie. She was a lifelong resident of Saltville. Throughout the years she has served the people of Saltville and Smokey Row as a waitress, cook and friend. She never wanted anyone to go hungry, her house was always open for everyone to come and enjoy her food. She enjoyed cooking and spending time family and friends. Everyone that knew her loved her. She always had a smile on her face. She was genuine, loving and caring woman. She was an avid Nascar fan. She enjoyed going to the races with her sister where they would root for their favorite driver. As a child, her and her siblings would go pick berries and beans and they helped their mom in the kitchen. This is where she acquired her love for cooking. She was a beautiful person that will be missed by everyone that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Holmes, son Edward Colley, her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her brother Wyndham Colley, her grandson Jason Colley and wife Victoria, great granddaughter Cristina Colley and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A service will be held Wednesday September 7th at 2pm at Mt. Rose Cemetery on Glade Springs. The family will be accepting visitors at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville from 12:30 to 1:30. We will then gather at the cemetery at 2 pm for the service where Mike Maiden will officiate.
