Elwood Conrad Jessee

Elwood Conrad Jessee, age 77, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 22, 2023. He was born on February 14, 1946 in Saint Paul, Va. to the late Dewey and Madgeline Jessee. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Throughout his life he was always known for being dedicated and hard working. Conrad was a selfless person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. You could always spot him from afar in his signature attire: a denim shirt, blue jeans, and his boots. His outfit reflected his down to earth nature, mirroring the genuine person he was. He loved all of his family, and his four dogs also held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Melissa Jeanette Garcia; and four brothers, Bobby, Kyle, Junior, and Roy Jessee; and also, a grandson, Aaron Deel.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years of marriage, Phyllis Jessee; son, Dewey Jessee (Tammy); three daughters, Becky Shortridge (Rusty), Cindy Jessee Deel, and Amanda Mitchell (Derek); sister, Angela Widener (Bill); son-in-law, Luis "Shorty" Garcia; nine grandchildren, Santana Galliher (Brian), Kristie Powers (Aaron), Avery Jessee, Isaac Jessee, Piper Stuart, Brianna Stuart, Chelsea Stuart, Luis Garcia, Drew Shortridge (Laura), Samantha Head (Casey), and Caitlin Garrett (Peyton); nine great-grandchildren, Nolan, Ava, Jaxton, Addison, Tucker, Tate, Cali, Wyatt, and Mattie; and also several nieces and nephews and many close friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Mount Rose Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Poston officiating. There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening at Henderson Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. Brian Miller, Aaron Powers, Derek Mitchell, Luis Garcia, Drew Shortridge, and Casey Head will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Isaac and Avery Jessee.
