Emory "Everett" Rose

Saltville, VA

Emory "Everett" Rose of Saltville Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 2, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born May 6, 1936, to Eugene and Maudie Debord Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Henry Rose, Helen White, Malcolm Rose, Tommy Rose and Gerald Rose, and granddaughter Madalyn Bock.

Everett is survived by his wife and love of his life of over 70 years, Patsy Stanley Rose. Also surviving is his son, David Rose (Joanne); daughters, Teresa Frye (Jeff), and Laura Bock (Tim); grandsons, Josh Frye (Lori), Zach Frye (Sarah), and Nathan Bock; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy Frye and Mattie Frye.

Everett was a devout Christian and member of Chilhowie First Church of God. He was passionate about attending church every time the doors were open and loved attending gospel singing events all over the area. Everett is held in the highest regard by all of his family who are so proud and grateful to have been the recipients of his love and dedication to them. His family and friends will greatly miss his regular FaceTime calls and especially his jokes and truck driver stories.

From an early age, Everett loved driving trucks and did so until he was 85 years old. In the beginning of his career Everett worked for the Town of Saltville as a backhoe driver where he discovered salt kettles from the Confederate days which are on display at the County Courthouse in Marion. He then worked for Olin Chemical Company and later graduated from the North Carolina State Truck Driving School at the head of his class. After retiring from ABF Trucking Company, Everett enjoyed driving for Kegley Trucking hauling milk to Asheville, NC. He looked forward to his time with the guys at the shop and all the great eating events they invited him to. Everett has a wall of "Million Mile" awards for his safe driving for many years. "Rosebud" was loved and respected by fellow truckers all over the Southeast.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Chilhowie First Church of God from 11 until 1 p.m. Following the visitation there will be a funeral procession to Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Saltville, VA for graveside services.
