Eunice C. Burgess

Eunice C. Burgess, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2024 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Eunice was a devoted mother to her six children: five boys and one girl. She cherished her role as a mother and dedicated her life to nurturing and loving her children. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every moment with grace and strength. She had the ability to make everyone feel like a friend. She never met a stranger and always wore a welcoming smile that could light up any room. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. One of Eunice's greatest joys was her nightly phone calls with her best friend and phone buddy, Lois. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Victoria Tuggle; her husband, Edward Burgess; two sons, Ricky and Johnny Burgess; grandson, Wade Boardwine; daughter-in-law, Shirley Keesee; and three brothers, and four sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles Burgess, Ann Boardwine and husband Dean, David Burgess, Curtis Burgess and wife Debra; daughter-in law, Patty Burgess; sister-in-law who was her best friend and phone buddy, Lois; her grandchildren, Justin Burgess (Jess), Heather Williams and husband Curtis, Tammy Rolen and husband Eric, John, Jr. "Bird" Burgess and wife Lori, Michael Burgess and wife Jennifer, Regina Counts and husband Chris, Brandi Burgess, Scott Burgess, Chris Burgess, and Ashley Burgess; great-grandchildren, Parker, Rachel, Chelsey, Skylar, Willow, Nora, Tucker, Madison, Claire, Cole, Whitley, Owen "Bubby", Olivia, Katie, and Christina; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Elizabeth Cemetery with Pastor Leonard Smith officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the procession to the cemetery.
