Gary "Peaches" Enoch Arnold, a beloved resident of Saltville, VA, passed away peacefully at the age of 80. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1943, to the late Enoch Arnold and Mildred Morton Arnold. Gary's journey through life was marked by notable achievements and a deep commitment to education. A proud 1966 graduate of Emory and Henry College, he not only earned his degree but left an indelible mark on the sports fields. Gary excelled in both football as a defensive back and baseball as an outfielder, showcasing his athleticism and earning a well-deserved spot in the college's hall of fame. With a passion for shaping young minds, Gary embarked on a distinguished 40-year career in teaching. His impact extended beyond the classroom, as he dedicated himself to coaching various sports, including football, baseball, track, cross country, golf, volleyball, and basketball. Gary's guidance and mentorship touched the lives of countless students, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of those he inspired. In addition to his roles as a teacher and coach, Gary served as the trusted Drivers Education instructor for many years. He approached life with a steadfast commitment to integrity, hard work, and a strong sense of community. Outside of his career he was a loving husband, father and brother. He was a faithful member of Quarry Church in Saltville where he attended for many years with his church family. Gary was also an avid golfer, where he made many memories with his golfing comrades.

Including his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, C.P. Brickey.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years of marriage, Page Brickey Arnold; his son, Gary Arnold II; sister, Linda Arnold Miller and husband Jere of Athens, TN; sister-in-law, Sue Brickey; nieces and nephews, Erin Miller Wallin and husband Bart, Stephen Miller and wife Ashley, Brian Arnold Miller, Preston Brickey and wife Robin, and Kathy Brickey Pearce; his is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. David E. Thompson and Dr. Chris Kennedy for the many years of exceptional care.
