Geneva Jerlene Stapleton, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, surrounded by her cherished family. She was a strong and feisty lady who brought joy to everyone who knew her. Jerlene's greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She found happiness in the simple joys of life—shopping, tending to her beloved flowers, and keeping her home beautifully decorated for every season. Her festive spirit always brightened the lives of those around her. Jerlene will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of her family and friends. Her memory will continue to bloom like the flowers she loved, and her legacy of love will live on through all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wornie & Louise Crewey Gillespie; her sister, Eula Poston; and two brothers, Jimmy and Gainer Gillespie.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children, William Norris and wife Janie, and Debbie Davidson and husband Kenneth; her siblings, Sam "Shorty" Gillespie, Susie Buchanan, Bill Gillespie and wife Phyllis, Betty Landis, George Gillespie and wife Freda, Jackie Gillespie, and Bobby Gillespie and wife Phyllis; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Riverside Cemetery in Rich Valley, with Rev. Herman Cress officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
