Glade Spring, VA George Augustus Frye, age 88, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. Born February 26, 1932 in Saltville, VA, he was the son of the late Walter Gray Frye and Josephine Hopkins Frye. Also, preceding him in death were sisters, JoAnne and Bernadine; brothers, Edsel, Bascom, and Ronnie. He was a member of the McCready United Methodist Church, a U. S. Air Force veteran, a retired employee of VDOT and a member of the Glade Spring Masonic Lodge #236. Survivors include his wife and best friend Peggy Hogston Frye; sisters, Eunice Weaver, Daleville, VA.; brother, Asher Frye of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law, Lillie Frye of San Antonio, TX. His beloved extended family, Florence Davidson of Marion, VA, Shirley Coe of Chilhowie VA, Anna Lee Ford of Abingdon, VA, Charles and Melody Hogston of Marion, VA, Judy and Don Cameron of Sugar Grove, VA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at the Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring with the Rev. Harry Howe officiating. Due to Covid-19, restrictions will apply and we ask that everyone wear a face mask. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the charity of your choice.
