Gerald Clifton
Hall
Dec 12, 1946 — Apr 10, 2025
Saltville, Va.
After a brief battle with cancer, Gerald Hall of Saltville, Virginia passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was exactly where he wished to be when he went to meet his Savior.
Gerald was born December 12, 1946 in Pageton, WV to George and Lenora Hall. He was one of thirteen children. After his father experienced a mining injury the family moved to Rich Valley, VA where he met the love of his life, Mariville Greer. The two of them ran off together to Sparta, NC to get married as teenagers, and they would have celebrated 59 years together in August.
A hard worker, Gerald spent his life working in construction to provide for his family. His hands bore the scars and calluses of that work, a permanent reminder of the hard and difficult work he chose. He was a member of The First Church of God in Chilhowie, VA where he served the Lord in various ministries and used his carpentry skills to help make any needed repairs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert, Willard, Donald, and Harold; sisters Peggy, Corrine, and Marie. Many others, including nieces and nephews also mourn his passing.
Gerald is survived by his beloved wife, Mariville, his son Geoff of Saltville, his daughter Cyndi and son-in-law Jon Kelley of Sterling, VA.; and his grandchildren Ty (Whitney) Hall of Abingdon, Zac Hall of Chilhowie, Allison Kelley of Fairfax, VA, Justin, and Emma Kelley of Sterling. Sister Penny (JC) Greer, brother Ricky (Debbie), Randy (Loretta), Doug (Glenda) and D.K. (Brenda).
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at The First Church of God in Chilhowie, VA with Pastor Michael Rysko and Pastor Bobby Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. A committal service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley. Those serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Greer, Darwin Keesee, Chad Myers, Zac Hall, Ty Hall, Justin Kelley, and Tim Spencer. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Walker, Jake Harris, Mike Billings, Doug Bise, Billy Harris, Mark Roberts, Scotty Hopkins, and John Burrows.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
