Harlan "Jay" Junior Perry, a cherished husband, father, brother and son, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 62. Harlan's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and love for his country. As a retired 23-year Air Force veteran, he served with honor and commitment, holding the title of Master Sargent. He served during the 1st Gulf War and also during operation Iraqi Freedom. Beyond his time in the service he had passions that were as vibrant as his spirit. He loved shooting guns and riding motorcycles, and he also enjoyed his slot cars. He was known for his helpful nature, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Jay leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness. His family and friends will continue to honor his memory and the positive impact he had on their lives.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Perry; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Betty Jane Perry; his mother, Mabel Perry; his children, Benjamin Perry and wife Danielle, April Puckett and husband Michael, Dakota Butler, Joshua Johnson, and Kayla Johnson; his brother, Alfred Perry and wife Diane; grandchildren, Kiersten Taylor and husband Cody; Kelsey Harris, Kaylen Pauley, Marshal Butler, McKinley Puckett, Emily Puckett, and Dante Butler; great-grandchildren, Aiden Puckett, Ezra Totten, and Scarlet Totten; nephew, Jimmy Perry and wife Megan; and special family friend, Ronald Herald.
Funeral services for Jay will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Harris officiating. There will be Military Rites rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post #4667. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services. The family will also be receiving friends at Mabel's residence.
