Harold Dean Shupe, age 83, passed away on Monday night, October 28, 2024, at his home. Dean was born on February 20, 1941, in Smyth County to the late Ernest and Delaphine Austin Shupe. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, and metal detecting looking for civil war artifacts with his best friend Larry Hogston. He worked for Bristol Compressors for 24 years. Harold loved telling stories about the old days when he was growing up and the stories were all true. He always had a big garden and grew the sweetest pineapples you have ever tasted.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Shupe, and several nieces and nephews.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Lois Shupe; one son, Daniel Shupe and wife Sandy; one daughter, Dianne Buchanan and husband Gary; brother, Eddie Shupe and wife Alice; and two sisters, Brenda Little and Delores Helton; grandchildren, Jessica Buchanan and husband, Jacob Downs, and Jonathan Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Dean Shupe will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Snodgrass Family Cemetery with Pastor Roger O'Quinn officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m.at Henderson Funeral Home. Those serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Downs, Mike Allison, Colten Allison, Glenn Hill, Roger Owens, and Jimmy Snodgrass. Honorary pall bearers will be Ricky Allison, Paul Taylor, and Larry Hogston.
