Hazel Frances "Stewy" Stewart
Saltville, VA
Hazel Frances "Stewy" Stewart, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saltville, Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Emory and Mabel Barbrow.
Frances had an immense love for her family and a heart for caring for everyone around her. She was known for her incredible cooking, never missing a Sunday dinner and ensuring that everyone left with full bellies and full hearts. Her love for playing bingo and working on word searches brought her joy, but nothing compared to the deep love she had for her family, a love she made known to everyone.
Frances is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard E. "Buster" Stewart; her son, Rick; daughter, Tressa (Bobby); her sisters, Mary Frye and Juanita Barnes; brothers, Kyle and Millard Barbrow; grandson, Brandon Johnson; son-in-law, Stu Johnson; and granddaughter-in-law, Staci Davidson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, "her girl" Laney; her son, Roger (Cindy); daughters, Delores "Dee" Snodgrass (Joe), Sandy Davidson (Billy), and Beverly "Bell" Johnson. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Shane (Jennifer) Davidson, Eric (Mandy) Davidson, Chad (Susan) Snodgrass, Kevin Snodgrass, Leslie Johnson, Jamie (Dave) Cardwell, Dale (Crystal) Stewart, and Jessica Stewart. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Fallon Davidson, Kiptyn and Kynlee Davidson, Emily Helton, Alayna Hunt, Lane and Deena Snodgrass, Haliegh, Michela, and Ellie Snodgrass, Drew, Dylan, and Aubree Cardwell, Shyann and Ryan Stewart, and Maddie and Maverick, as well as a great-great grandson, Ryver Cardwell.
Frances's memory will also be cherished by her many special nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Anita Olinger, who was her faithful bingo buddy for years. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Anita for always being there for Frances and for loving her every Wednesday Night.
Special thanks to Caris Healthcare and a very special gratitude to Brandy Hill for her loving care and support during this difficult time.
Frances's warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends will be dearly missed, but her love will live on in the heart of all who knew her.
Funeral services for Frances will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Loupe officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow at the Allison Family Cemetery.
