Herbert Graham "Buck" Doane, age 66, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Buck was born in Saltville, Virginia, on February 17, 1960, to the late Herbert "Groundhog" Doane and Mae Doane. He was a 1979 graduate of Rich Valley High School, where he was known as one of the Rich Valley Steers' "Hard Hitters" on the football field. His love for football never faded, and throughout his life he remained a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and Virginia Tech Hokies. Buck loved his home and the Rich Valley community. He was known as a steady man with a quiet and humble demeanor who never sought attention for himself. He was a hard worker throughout his life. Buck had a big heart and loved to cut up and joke with those around him, always bringing laughter wherever he went. He was a good cook, loved bigfoot, and enjoyed watching moonshiners. Above all else, he loved and cherished his family more than anything. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ronald Martin and mother-in-law, Linda Martin; sister, Connie Doane; nephews, Shane Doane and Justin Martin; and sister-in-law, Vickie Taylor.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 22 years of marriage, Juanita Doane; his children, Amy Tuggle and husband Mitchell, Jennifer Evans and husband David, and Joe Doane; grandchildren, Katlyn Frye and husband JR, Tanner Jarvis, and Alex Evans; sister, Mary Sue Watt and husband Kerry of Lillington, NC; brother, Charlie "Chuck" Doane and wife Dwana; brother- in- law, Ronald Martin and wife, Becky; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Frye officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Henderson Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
