Jacob Lynn "Jake" Sykes, 41, of Saltville, Virginia, passed away on Monday December 9th, 2024. Jake was a beloved father, son, husband, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Jake was preceded in death by his grandmother, Cora Gillespie, and his father, Tony Sykes.

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Makenzie Sykes; his wife, Carrie Sykes; his mother, Lisa Johnson; his brother, Cody Johnson; his grandfather, Samuel Gillespie; and his uncle, Sam Gillespie and family.

As an avid outdoorsman, Jake found joy and solace in the woods and by the ocean, where he felt most at home. Later in life, he dedicated himself to helping others as a Behavioral Health Technician at Profound Treatment Center in Los Angeles, California, assisting many in their journey toward sobriety just as others had helped him.

Jake's fun and adventurous spirit and his compassionate heart will be forever remembered by all who knew him.

Family and friends are welcome to a visitation which will be held at D. R. Henderson Funeral Home from 1:30 to 2:30 on December 13th, 2024, followed by a graveside service and interment at Riverside Church Cemetery in Saltville, VA. officiated by Pastor Tyler Vencill.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Greer, Chris Allison, Dakota Taylor, Jeremy Greer, Landon Smith, and John Gillespie.
