James "Junior" Branson Burks, age 59, passed away on October 10, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. James was born on March 13, 1964 to his parents, Junior L. Burks and Myrtle Branson. James enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and bird watching. He was a kind, gentle, and loving soul concerned only with uplifting those around him. He was full of life, even spending the ladder portion of it paralyzed from the waist down. This never held James back from standing up for what he believed in. Now, he not only walks, but flies among the angels. James was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Branson; and his wife, Tracy Hunt.

James is survived by his father, Junior L. Burks; daughter, Joy Fulbright; son, Eric Sexton; and special dog, "Bruno". The family would like to express a special thank you to his caregiver, Nicole McGhee.
