James Carter Honaker, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a 13-year battle with cancer and black lung. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Bessie (Salyers) Honaker; brother, Claude David (Booty) Honaker; and sister, Ruthie Jacklene Honaker. Jimmy was a retired miner and had a passion for the simple life: hunting, fishing, and a great love for Little League Baseball of which he coached for many years. He loved his family, friends, and church.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Debby Kinder Honaker; his children, Cherie Honaker, Wes Honaker, and Sarah Glaviano; his step-children, Levi (Amy) Neal, Cody (Jessica) Neal, and Kara Neal; grandchildren, Hannah Alex Glaviano, Masyn Honaker, Gavin Glaviano, and Henry Neal; sisters, Peggy (Bill) Keating, Carol (Charlie) Hamer, Pat (Mitch) Edwards, and Judi (Tom) Calvert Klem.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Crabtree Chapel Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Andrews officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 prior to the service. After the funeral service, there will be a funeral procession to the Honaker Family Cemetery.
