James Clifford Carter "Jim", age 88, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Jim was a graduate of Rich Valley High School and served for three years after graduation in the U. S. Air Force. He went on to work for many years at Hardwood Manufacturing and various other factories. After retirement, he worked with his nephew Tom on his farm.

Jim was a humble and kind man who went out of his way to help his family, neighbors, and friends, never asking anything in return. He was a member of the Chatham Hill First Church of God. He was a firm believer in hard work, and when he wasn't doing some kind of work, you could find him sitting on his porch on his beloved "Ridge".

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Kennedy and Cora Carter; his wife, Mary Carter; daughter, Amy Carter; and sister, Janavee Buchanan and brother-in-law Raymond Buchanan; brother, John Kennedy Carter and his wife, Nancy Wright Carter.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Cathy Carter Roberts; granddaughter, Jessica Kopp and husband Taylor; grandsons Christopher and Peyton Roberts; great-grandson, Hudson Kopp; great granddaughter Henley Kopp; sister, Janice Perkins and husband Glenn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services for Jim Carter will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Ridgedale Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be Christopher Roberts, Peyton Roberts, Taylor Kopp, and Eddie Briggs. Honorary pallbearer will be Tom Buchanan.
