Clinchburg, VA James Edwin Cook, age 84, went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2021, at his home in Meadowview, VA surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 1, 1936, in Clinchburg, VA and has lived here all his life. He was an accomplished electrician and mentor to many at Bristol Compressors, where he worked for 29 years, and Utility Trailer-Atkins for 13 years, where he worked until he retired at 80 years old. James was an avid beekeeper and loved tending to his farm. James is preceded in death by his parents, David and Lora Cook; brothers, John Cook, David Cook, Don Cook, Ray Cook; sisters, Annie Thomas, Pauline Chapman, Gladys Testerman, Ruby Cook, Frances Prater; and grandson, Andrew White. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanita P. Cook; brother, Kenneth Cook; sister, Shirley Whitt; four children, Diane (Howard) Canada, Jimmy (Patricia) Cook, Jerry (Nora) Cook, and Teresa (Johnny) White; 10 grandchildren, Adam Cook, Sydni Canada, Alex Cook, Kelli Canada, Aaron White, Austin Cook, Matthew White, Nicholas Cook, Caitlyn Cook, and McKenzie White; and six great-grandchildren, Daniel Cook, Kassie Cook, Dakota Lampkins, Dalton Lampkins, Kaden Cook, and Paisley Cook. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Home Nursing Company, Inc. Home Health and Hospice, for the compassionate care they provided to James to keep him comfortable during his final days. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Mahanaim United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Prater officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Henderson Funeral Home.
