Chilhowie, VA James F. "Jim" Sawyer, age 65, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. Jim grew up in Glade Spring, VA, but spent his adult life in Chilhowie, VA. He had a love for the Lord and was a member of the Allison Gap First Church of God. Jim will be remembered for the love of his family and friends. He was known for his laughter and love of old cars, which he shared with his son Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents Onnie and Alva Sawyer. Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debbie Sawyer; daughter Amy Dunn and husband Jeremy; son Ryan; and special grandson Bryson Dunn, his "Little Boy"; brothers John and wife Mary Kay, and Mike, both of Chilhowie, VA; sister Janet Bishop of Abingdon, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Ridgedale Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Dunn and Rev. Bobby Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Allison Gap First Church of God in Saltville, VA. Everyone is asked to please follow the COVID19 guidelines.
