Glade Spring, Va.

James Edward "Jimmy" Holmes, age 65, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025.  He was born March 12, 1960 to the late Edward "Merch" and Eleanor Holmes of Glade Spring.

Jimmy was a 1978 graduate of Patrick Henry High School where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball.  After high school, Jimmy graduated from East Tennessee State University.  After college, he was employed by VDOT as an inspector for 25 years.  He later went to work for Haven of Rest in Bristol Tennessee as a counselor and worked at the food pantry.  Jimmy loved to fish and watch all sports on TV.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Leigh Ann Holmes; his son, James Andrew "Andy" Carter Holmes; grandchildren, Keelan, Jaxson, Chloe, Landon, and Sailor; one sister, Suzanne Farmer; his aunt, Teresa Dickens; one nephew, Jerod Haga (Kathy), and niece, Shauna Haga; and several cousins.

In honor of his wishes, there will be no services.
